| SIX OF THE BEST: SHEPHERD NEAME BOTTLED BEERS WIN AWARDS
| |
Six bottled beers brewed by Shepherd Neame have won awards from the British Bottlers' Institute in its annual competition to judge the nation's finest ales, lagers and ciders in bottles and cans.
Shepherd Neame's experienced team of brewers, based in Faversham, Kent, won two gold medals, a silver medal and three diplomas for their Kentish ales and the international lagers they brew under licence in the 53rd BBI Gala Awards.
The brewery's 300th anniversary bottle-conditioned ale, 1698, won a gold medal, as did Asahi Super Dry, the Japanese karakuchi (dry) lager brewed at Faversham under licence from Asahi Breweries of Tokyo.
Another Oriental favourite brewed under licence, the Hong Kong style Sun Lik Beer, was awarded a silver medal.
Diplomas went to the quintessentially Kentish beers Master Brew and Bishops Finger, as well as Gentleman Jack, a premium ale brewed exclusively for Asda by the Kent brewery.
Tom Falcon, Shepherd Neame's production and distribution director, said: "These awards recognise the knowledge and expertise of our brewers in crafting distinctive ales and lagers from home and abroad."
